Health issues, as well as the Covid-19 situation, cause stress and anxiety for many people. In addition, if you are undergoing serious illness or oncological treatment, you may feel under pressure to make critical decisions. Stress is counterproductive to the body’s healing activities, as it is well-known to depress the immune system, growth and repair, hormones, digestion, and other critical functions necessary for health and healing.
Research by leading organisations including HeartMath™ have found that the heart plays an essential role in higher brain function (clarity of thought), lower brain function (emotional management and adaptability), hormonal balance under stress, and improving communication and receptiveness in others. By inducing Heart Coherence in yourself, you can literally entrain those around you to feel better!
Gerald can help you manage stress and anxiety, achieve clarity, and support your body’s healing processes by providing you with scientifically-researched Heart Coherence and traditional time-tested resilience-building tools. By helping you to “reset,” you find more peace within your circumstances, you make clearer decisions, and you will be more relaxed.
These methods form an integrated practice that you can do to enhance your wellbeing for the rest of your life. They derive from the evidence-based HeartMath™ programmes as well as ancient self-cultivation practices (Zen, Yoga) and Aikido, a Japanese martial art of peace.
There will also be consultation, goal setting and coaching through difficult states and emotions, and through the challenges raised by the programme. You will receive recordings and materials to support you at home.
In the 1980s Gerald studied Aikido under the first British aikido chief instructor, and has taught aikido in London, Singapore, and New Zealand. He has also taught Yoga since 2000, has lectured in Yoga philosophy and practice to tertiary-level yoga and natural health students, and has run stress management and resilience workshops for the public and for corporations.
Gerald has trained as an Ayurvedic Practitioner, and practised with cancer and other serious illness patients alongside David Holden and his team. He was Chairman of the Natural Health Council, and executive board member of Natural Health Practitioners NZ for several years. In these roles he liaised with the media and the Ministry of Health to gain more acceptance for the implementation of Integrative Healthcare in New Zealand.
After three years study at AUT, Gerald gained his Postgraduate Diploma in Health Science in 2014, specialising in Mindbody Healthcare.
He is now studying to become a Certified HeartMath™ health professional.
Gerald has always been fascinated by the coordinated role of mind and body in achieving exceptional wellbeing and health. He has identified what he believes are the most effective methods to help people become self-efficacious in achieving health, performance and happiness.
